The wonderful thing about a tuxedo shirt is that when you Google “tuxedo shirt for women” you’ll get a selection that includes Ralph Lauren and H & M. There is no price range, no budget, no customer that cannot afford a simple, crisp, elegant tuxedo shirt. Everyone should own one, to wear with a pair of classic black pants, or a pencil skirt, or even a black suit. It’s The Minimalist Fashionista’s best friend, the tuxedo shirt!

And just in time for the Holiday season, wondrous Swedish shirt company Eton has come up with the perfect — I mean, THE shirt to end all your shirt searches — tuxedo shirt.

At first look, the jacquard version reminded me of the whimsical tux shirt James Ivory wore to the Academy Awards a couple of years ago, when he collected the Best Adapted Screenplay award for Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Call Me By Your Name’. That one of course had a drawing of Timothée Chalamet’s character specially designed on the front. Even their “Three Generations of Christmas” campaign has a Chalamet look-a-like, don’t you think?

But back to the shirt. On second glance, Eton’s accents are just as elegant and rock ‘n roll enough to spark my fancy. The last tuxedo shirt I bought was a vintage one in a consignment store in the East Village. These ones from Eton look a lot more crisp and nothing says style like a new white shirt.

Now you’re also probably wondering what is going on with me, here I am talking about menswear as if I could wear it myself — strange no? Actually no. I own a few Eton men’s shirts and their small fits me perfectly. Everything depends on the cut and material. And the tuxedo shirts look light and well fitted. So, if you’re on the smaller side, choose a 35 and if you’re more into a loser fit, go up from there.

For men of course, nothing is more elegant than a guy in a tux. But if you don’t feel like doing the whole suit thing, we, the women who love you, understand. Go ahead and wear a nice pair of black pants with the black version of the tuxedo shirt and call it day! Any way you go, you can’t go wrong with a tuxedo shirt. That’s all I’m saying.
