Earth Hour

Clip Three of a New Adventure: The Minimalist Fashionista on Lockdown: Earth Hour, Tribeca Film Festival online and Zara

E. Nina Rothe March 28, 2020

So I’ve said, give me two minutes and I’ll give you films, fashion and fun. Here are today’s picks.

Today is Earth Day — or rather tonight is “Earth Hour”. I don’t know about you but this lockdown has made me realize even more than ever before that every hour of every day should be Earth day. Anyway, at 8.30 p.m. of whichever time zone you find yourselves in, switch it all off. And look at the stars. They are more free than we are at the moment and oftentimes remind us of those who have gone.

Sadness has been a part of this grieving process for me. Grieving, I mean, for the life I used to be able to enjoy and didn’t do enough to celebrate. Let’s hope we all make it out healthy and happy and we’ll find a way to live life to the fullest.

Today’s film suggestion is about the daily short film from Tribeca Film Festival, which will come to your inbox every day if you sign up on their website. It’s fun to have thirty days of short films and ‘One Year Lease” by Brian Bolster is about an overbearing, underperforming NYC landlord. My favorite so far. Sad that TFF was canceled this year but you can still enjoy an online festival experience. And it won’t cost you a cent.

My shirt if by Zara and their online store provides great inspiration. I’m not buying anything new at the moment to save up, but looking at their site is like window shopping during COVID-19. Also Selfridges and Harrods have great websites and it won’t cost you a single dollar to look and lust.

My earrings were a Christmas gift last year and I love them. Yvone Christa is not cheap, her jewelry is stunning, but once we come out of this nightmare, we may want to indulge in a little something special and her gorgeous pieces are timeless and perfect.

My beverage was a Gold Cappuccino by Nescafe, but couldn’t wait to drink it since it’s so delicious.

And a bit of advice, don’t watch the news in the evening. All this doom and gloom will interrupt your falling asleep cycle. It’s important to dream of the beautiful days ahead and not only think about what is going on right now. It too shall pass but our mood needs to be kept up — nothing fights infections like a good laugh and a positive outlook.
