On this clip, I wanted to go to Paris. I’d never been when I visited it two summers ago, with my beloved late friend Richard. I had always held out to see with someone special and they didn’t get any more special than he! I doubt I’ll go back to Paris now, too many memories at every corner. In 48 hours, Richard showed me everything around his beautiful adoptive city. Truly magical.
‘Personal Shopper’ by Oliver Assayas was special to me before that visit and before Richard passed away. Now it’s become almost a religious experience and I highly recommend it to all who love fashion, cinema and feel a deep connection with someone who passed away in their own lives. Kristen Stewart is absolutely divine in this film and Assayas remains one of the sexiest men alive in my book. And by sexy I mean that wonderful combination of intelligence, nonchalance and impeccably casual style in a man. I interviewed him once in Locarno and he became the interview subject I hold all others to in my work. You can watch it on IFC Films through Amazon Prime.
For fun, I bought my first chocolate Easter egg this year. I chose Perugina because it was on sale and came wrapped in gold. Sometimes decisions are as simple as that.
My shirt is by Zadig & Voltaire, which is my go-to brand for everything stylish yet rockstar. I love their brand new, super fine cashmere sweaters with holes and worn in features already worked into the style. I feel very cool in their stuff and that’s what fashion should be — a means to find our best selves in the clothes.
My earrings are a gift from my mom, they were hers from way back in the days in Florence. My bracelet is by Hipanima — a birthday gift from Richard from our last dinner together on this earth — and the fabric ones are from Christian Dior, they are sold in pairs. While mine are a few years old, they still make something similar every season.
Find what to read by signing up for the Dior newsletter. I got some amazing titles including Camus and Stefan Zweig (ok, not French but still worth a read!) in today’s email.
Finally, the words of Albert Camus himself, to take us through this dark time. I mean, apart from the author foretelling the Coronavirus crisis in his book ‘The Plague’, he is wisdom personified.
“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” May you feel that invincible summer now, my friends!
